Stone Temple Pilots se aprecia la influencia de grupos con sonidos grunge como Pearl Jam o Alice in Chains como su ascendencia hard rock de Led Zeppelin. El grupo californiano se creó en 1992. Estaba Formado por el Scott Weiland vocalista (nacido el 28 de octubre de 1967 en Santa Cruz, California), los hermanos Dean DeLeo, guitarrista, y Robert DeLeo, bajista, y el batería Eric Kretz. Scott y Robert se conocieron cuando ambos asistieron a un concierto de Black Flag.
